Pastel Portrait of Zoie with Pan Pastel background
Recently completed a pastel portrait of little Zoie for Amanda from Newcastle. Once again the Pan Pastels provided a soft, muted and interesting background. A4 size presented in an A3 matted frame.

Recently completed a pastel portrait of much loved Marley as a surprise birthday present. The client requested a purple background. I was able to use some beautiful suede pastel paper I bought at the September national Pastel Expo in Caloundra. I then darkened it up and made it more interesting with the use of Pan […]
I was delighted to participate in the Clarence City Council’s Dogs Day Out at Rosny Farm on Sunday 7 October 2018. I did a demonstration of Scratchboard as part of the event. The sun was shining and dogs and owners were out in great numbers! I was pleased to do a portrait of a black […]

The exhibition runs until 14 October 2018. I have entered two pieces. A large A3 size pastel of my Golden Retrievers, Roxy and Bentley and […]
Just back from Caloundra on the beautiful Sunshine Coast where I attended Australia’s inaugural Pastel Expo with 200 other pastellists from all around Australia (and with a special guest/speaker all the way from the US). What an experience. Was able to attend workshops, demonstrations and exhibitions and learnt so much. Picked up some really great […]

On Saturday 8 September 2018 I attended the national exhibition of the Australian Society of Miniature Art Tasmania Inc.at the Derwent Sailing Squadron in Hobart. The event was opened by Her Excellency Professor Kate Warner AC, the Governor of Tasmania. It was very well attended and a real eye opener for me. There were numerous […]
Just completed my first Scratchboard in Gold! Found this Scratchbrite scratchboard at an art shop in Sydney. Gives a lovely effect but it is harder working on this than the Ampersand Scratchboard. Firstly, it is easier to scratch but if you scratch too hard, the paper will tear and expose white. Secondly, it does not react well […]
Took some photos of me with some of my works when I recently attended the Patternation Exhibition at the Lady Franklin Gallery (LFG) in Lenah Valley, Hobart. The photos show two of my Scratchboard pieces of a Macaw and a Peacock.
Finally finished this portrait of Bentley in water soluble oils on a 20 by 25 cm stretched canvas. Undertook as part of an oil painting course with Colour Circle by the incredible Joan Humble. What an opportunity to learn from a true master! Picked up some great tips on what type of brushes to use […]
