I have really enjoyed working with pastels, particularly after lessons with the fabulous Lindy Whitton at Colour Circle. I now have a wonderful collection of artist quality sticks, pencils and Pan pastels (and a variety of fantastic papers and Colorfix clear primer) to experiment with! I particularly like the soft effect that you get with pastels that lends itself so wonderfully to animal features such as fur and shells. Here are a couple of turtles I have done recently in this medium (A4 size in A3 frames).
