Humans are animals too! I have been teaching myself how to do Scratchboard after seeing an inspiring window display at The Artery here in Hobart. Have now done a number of different animals including wombats, koalas, a giraffe, a peacock, a kookaburra, a tiger and a fox.
I thought I would try my hand at a human. Was inspired by the recent movie The Darkest Hour, about Winston Churchill and the Battle of Dunkirk in 1940. The piece is inspired by the movie and a famous photo of the great man on the Internet.
I thought the smoke would be particularly challenging but was able to successfully portray its nature and appearance through the use of a fibreglass tool. I hope to experiment with human portraits in Scratchboard, in due course.
