Delighted to see a major article “Artist’s Pictorial” on much loved Tasmanian Joan Humble OAM in the May 2018 edition of Australian Artist magazine (pp.18-19).  The article refers to her latest exhibition “New Horizons” which was staged at Hobart’s Lady Franklin Gallery to celebrate her 80th birthday. The article states that the exhibition “epitomises the positivity and energy of this superb Tasmanian artist”. Joan is well known for her landscapes and her miniatures.  I am very fortunate to be undertaking her oils course at the present time with the Colour Circle. I have learnt so much already including the importance of colour mixing and having just the right brush/tool!  I thought I was pedantic. Joan is way ahead of me. She has an incredible eye for detail and bewildering observational skills when it comes to nature. I feel privileged to have been able to have her as a teacher.
