I was thrilled last night to win the equivalent of the Packers’ Prize at the Poochibald Exhibition at Rosny Farm here in Hobart. It was my third year of entering this dog portraiture event. This year’s event was their biggest ever with over 100 entries.

I won the prize which was selected by the Council Rangers. My winning entry was of border Collie, Missy, on Ampersand Scratchbord.

I also entered a gold scratchboard of my own 12 year old Golden Retriever, Bentley. I thought that the gold colour of the scratchboard lent itself to his beautiful and glowing coat.

The Poochibald exhibition is open from 26 September to 13 October on Wednesday to Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm at the Schoolhouse Gallery and Cottage. It will be a highlight attraction/event at the annual Dogs Day Out at the same venue on Sunday 6 October 2019.

I am very honoured to have won this award. Those who know me well appreciate my enduring passion for animals, particularly dogs.

As with last year, I will also be demonstrating scratchboard at the Dogs Day Out for those interested in a different and unique art medium.
